I was born a mountain girl, and a mountain girl I will always be. Today we adventured up to the Great Smokey Mountain Parkway for some spectacular views. My heart was tugging on me to get up and get away to the crisp, clean woods of the smokies. When we were little, my dad would take us on Sunday 'loafering' trips to the mountains, sometimes in cars, sometimes on a motorcycle. Today I felt like a little kid again going back to the place we love. My dad's grandfather and his family grew up around an area called Fontana Lake, just south of the parkway. He really feels at peace there knowing where his roots lie. I think some of that also makes me feel at 'home' also... Here are a few photos from our trip to Clingman's Dome, NC, the highest point east of the Mississippi River (and other places along the way, including NOC - so fun!).
Beautiful pics and beautiful people in them!!
